Re: what brand fondue set
I used to borrow my mothers fondue set since she never uses it and it is an expensive set. I went about 3 years ago to BBB and bought an inexpensive one for about 19.99 and it has worked beautifully I will register for a nice one anyway. But if you are looking to buy one I can't remember the brand but they had a whole bunch of different ones there.

LOVE Fondue!
I don't know how much brands matter - I've used a few and don't recall the names or much difference between them. We have a really nice one now - its stainless steel, makes the clean up a little easier.
My favorites alternate bewteen the typical chocolate (melt chocolate chips with heacy cream) - dip pretzels, strawberries, pineapple, oranges marshmellows, etc.
and cheese - its a more complicated recipe: wine garlic, gruyere, emmentalier (sp?) - love dipping bread, apples, asparagus, etc.
We've had a couple fondue parties - they're always a big hit.

I have a copper one from William Sonoma. I love it.
