What budget should we set for a DJ?

FH and I just started to look for a DJ and I was wondering what budget should we set for that. We talked to two and they are charging between $2,000-2,500 for the whole thing. Soft music at the coctail hour; music and sound system for the officient at the ceremony, MC, lights

Do you think its a good price?

I am doing just simple stuff, nothing really big, and I am paying under $1,000. It depends on what you want. I mean, is the ceremony on site? or is it at a church? If it's at a church, then they have to travel and all of that, so I don't think that is horrible. I would say it's probably a little bit much, but not horrible. You are also getting lights so I am going to say about $1500-$1800?

check out FM Entertainment, their prices are really reasonable. I am getting a dj/mc, steel drum at CH and a photo montage for under 2k

The problem is that because we need a Russian MC he said it'll be a bit more expansive. The ceremony is on site, just outside. I was really hoping to get the DJ for around 1500. I guess we'll continue looking or try to negotiate...

definitely try to negotiate. Tell him what you're looking to spend and ask him if he can meet you there.

I guess we'll just tell him we talked with a few more companies and they're willing to work with our budget which is around 1500 and see what he'll say...

I hate negotiating!!!! He was the first one we saw and there was another one who wanted 2500 so I though this one (who wanted 2000) was a good deal but now after talking to you I see we will have to either look around or bring his prices down!!!

Sounds like a good deal!!! still in the 2Ks
Sorry for my ignorance but what are photo montages and zap pics?
Our Videographer will do a photomontage for us if we decide to go with love story. How does a photomontage work with DJs?

its ok not to know. Montages are like the growing up pics from kids til now & then the pics with your dad & FH withhis mom. Zap shots are pics taken during the actual reception & they show them on teh screens. Its hysterical & everyone loves to see the funny pics whilepeople are dancing .

No the photo montages can be done before you come in liek the pics of u two growing up & then of u guys dating up until this point then they announce u guys as mr & mrs & then the pics of u & dad can be done whileu dance with ur dad etc.

Zap shots are all night long!
