What can I do with these speakers?

These are in the wall of our den. The insides of the frames measure about 25' long by 14' wide.

I was going to pull them out and put a shelf in, but they both have a hole in the back for the wires to go through which is in the garage. DH and I are not handy enough to be able to put up sheet rock or anything like that to finish it off right.

Well If you want to hide the speakers then you can place picture /painting in fron of them OR pull them out like you said and just measure out the demensions behind the speakers, purchase a nice thin wooden plank or panel or plastic and instead of putting on shelves you can make it a nich and place a nice statue or vase in there...Or the shelves...

Just some ideas for ya... let us see the see the after pics when your done....

Hi there. If I am not mistaken that is paneling on the walls and it will be very hard to line up the holes perfectly with no seams. I first thought of a built in entertainment center for that area but noticed how that one speaker touched the door casing. Is there any way you could utilize the holes for your own entertainment center via surround sound with updated speakers or do you want the holes to go away completely? Also is that a rental or a place that you own? Please let me know!!

I'll mention these ideas to DH. We are totally inept when it comes to this stuff, all we know is that we HATE those ugly old useless speakers!
