what can you do a year and a half before your wedding?!?
so we were originally going to get married a little less than a year from now, in sept 2011... i realized overall that would be a BAAAAAD career move for me, so we're pushing it back half a year to march 2012. right now we're nearing the end of the RH booking process and i'm SOOOO excited... but my wedding seems so far away now!! i' m WAY too excited to stop planning once the booking is done-what can i do when the wedding is still this far off?! what did you do first after you booked your RH?

Right after RH, I booked photog/video then DJ.

Join the 2012 group :) They all plan things WAY in advanced and we keep eachother occupied through this long wait!! :)

The same thing with me. And I'm so happy I did because now I get to enjoy every step instead of being rushed. March is a great month!!

I booked the photographer/videographer after the RH. I am going to do the florist next

Hello march 2012er!! I booked my RH, trying to get in touch with my church still....shopping around for price quotes for photographer and dj's....browse the mags rip out stuff you might want? make collages? i don't want to get into too much details theme wise just in case my style changes, but hey it doesn't hurt to look at EVERYTHING....we certainly have the time....ohhh save the dates? those can go out soon...

=D we got engaged in May and we are getting married next September (the 2nd). I'm the same way and was and still am verrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry excited, my FH keeps joking and saying I'm so impatient haha.
We actually booked the RH 2 months before we got engaged. ( I knew it was coming, just never knew when!) because we've been to SO MANY weddings at all different places, none of them really stuck out. Once we walked into Crest Hollow, we just knew =)
Then a week after we got engaged, we booked the Church.
I knew what dress I wanted from last year when I went looking with a friend for her dress, and fell in love with the one I got :) I ended up ordering it, and they said it would come in this Septemeber, but 2 weeks later they said it came in early because it was being discontinued! So I've had my dress for a few months LoL (I am crazy!)
We met with a DJ shortly after, but a friend of mine is using him in 2 weeks and we wanted to see him before we book.
I am doing my own flowers, so I've been playing around with that on and off.
We just booked photo and video last week (so happy!)
We have an appointment with a limo company tomorrow.
Is that it? LoL like I said, I'm crazy, but I LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEEE planning, even though its just a little under a year away!
It's never too early to start :)

after RH we did church, photographer/video, dress, bridesmaid dresses, then DJ, then florist, invitations.
I would look at photographer and DJ first. Those two are sooo important!
And look for your dress! FUN!

Plan exactly what you want and give yourself a timeline. I had a 20 month engagement and I'm down to 74 days -- I am starting to stress. The biggest thing is people will tell you, 'relax, you have plenty of time,' but if you keep putting things off, you'll be in my boat -- 2 months left and SO much left to do. GL

I can totally relate with the 'what do i do with some much time' issue. I needed a long engagement for a few reasons (my career being a huge factor). We are actually still in the process of looking at RHs and picking the right one for us. So far we have a pretty short list (i would say were ALMOST set with booking one), but i don't want any regrets so were looking at a few others. But, once we book the RH we still have almost 3 years until the wedding! I also dont really have many places to look at, for other vendors (we already know who we plan to use for the DJ since we've known the company for years and years, our florist is going to be a friend from HS and the photographer is prob also going to be a family friend), so the big vendors are almost set as well. We are doing a theme wedding (star wars), so my plan is to start looking for inspiration for how to incorporate that theme into the aspects of the wedding. I think it is still way to far in advance to start on DIY stuff, but i'm starting to think of what to do (placecards, menus, programs, etc etc). So pretty much, i'm just looking around for inspiration at the moment.
I know this was a pretty personal response, with no real...advice to add (sorry), but just know that your not the only one in the same boat!

We booked our church rt away and thats rly it lol! now ive just been looking at silly stuff like BM's gifts and ring bearer pillows that I can store..prob in Jan or so we will start booking vendors...
im just reminding myself that part of the reason we are waiting is so we can do everything we want. so ifi see somethin i want i get it b/c it wont hurt my purse so far out from the wedding :)

i booked RH first, then band, then flowers, then photographer, and then limos, DOC, etc.

We booked everything a little less than a year and ahalf before so go now! There are lots of 2012 brides who have booked all of their vendors already. Do your research and go!

i did everything i didnt care i got engaged in 08 not getting married unitl this november i loved it becasue no stress until now with the little things but you also might get good pricing since your booking so far away and the great vendors that you want will be available

ITA! Come say hi on the 2012 boards. We're friendly and we're all in the same boat about planning way far in advance. Plus we get cameo visits from BellaRegina, our 2013'er, who makes our weddings feel not quite so far away (sorry Angela, I couldn't help it! )
