Only 42 days to the wedding! And we have no idea what music to use. I was thinking of the Canon in D for my entrance. I know it's overused, but I've always loved that piece, it was my favorite thing to play when I played the cello back in school. And then I thought I might have them play 'Beautiful Day' by U2 for the recessional. Do you think that's silly? We could just do the classic stuff, but I love that song, I've been a huge U2 fan since 1981. No, not a misprint, I'm old!
Anyway, people usually use more than one piece for the processionals, and I don't know what to use. I know when I ask my FH he'll say, 'Uh, I dunno...' He's not much help with that sort of thing.
We also have to put together a ceremony somewhat, as we're meeting with the rabbi on Monday. As I was raised Episcopalian (but aren't religious at all) I'd like some parts of it to be from the Episcopalian rite, but not sure which. And my mom is supposed to do a reading, as she's a reader for her church and is very good, but I'm not sure what she wants to read yet. YIKES! I was supposed to think about all this stuff today but I've been ill and spent most of the day sleeping.
So--what are YOU using?

Re: What ceremony music are you using?
I'm using Trumpet Voluntary by Clarke....and my BP is coming into either Sheep May Safely Graze or Sleepers Awake by Bach (I have to find out if my organist can do Sleepers Awake). You can hear all of these on w edalert.com.
Love Beautiful Day! If I could use contemporary music I totally would- my dream was to have our entrances to instrumentals of Beatles songs.

Re: What ceremony music are you using?
First of all, my SIL used Beautiful Day for her recessional, and it was cool! I think that would be a great choice.
We used kind of a mix of traditional & non for our music, but I think it flowed. For the bp, we used Canon in D - I've always loved that song and had to include it somehow. I walked down to Somebody by Depeche Mode. Then for the recessional we used This Will Be by Natalie Cole.

She did? That's great. I didn't think of this myself, I read it in NY magazine. Where did they start it, if you remember? At the beginning? We're having a Jewish ceremony, at the end of which you break the glass, everyone yells Mazeltov!, and then I thought we'd have the DJ play one of the spots where it starts in with 'It's a Beautiful Day....' instead of the beginning of the song. I'll have to make sure he can do that.

That's right where they started it - right at 'It's a Beautiful Day...' The DJ can do that no problem, I would think.

I figured he could. Now I just have to talk the groom into it! He probably won't mind, though. It's fun, and we want to have some fun on the day.

Re: What ceremony music are you using?
The groom said OK to 'Beautiful Day'! Great. He also suggested we end the reception to the last song from the Mikado. Uh, OK. No 'New York, New York?' If it makes him happy. (Yes, my FH loves Gilbert and Sullivan. He's so adorable!)
