My youngest sister is not in my very small bridal party for a lot of reasons. When we were planning on MOB dress shopping tomorrow my mother thought we should invite the youngest sis to come along to find something for the wedding.
I know I have no right to dictate what she should wear- frankly we would be relieved to have her choose and buy something appropriately fitted and sized. However if she asks should I suggest a certain color? One that matches or is complimentary to the bridal party like my mom will do?

Re: What color should she wear???
I think it's perfectly fine for you to suggest a color, especially that she is your sis and she will be in many pics. As long as you do it nicely and leave the bridezilla at home...LOL!

if she asks, i think you can make a suggestion. i personally wouldn't take it upon myself to say something unless what she was ready to buy was seriously tacky or going to clash with everything else. JMO

agreed...since she isnt in the bridal party, I don't really think its fair for you to say what you want her in. I would feel uncomfortable saying something..but that's just my opinion!

Re: What color should she wear???
This made me think of my bro's first wedding! He was marrying the biggest WITCH ever (or so I thought till I met his 2nd wife...lol) and she wanted me in no part of the wedding.
Knowing I'd be in pics i decided I would get the color that clashed most with the bridal party!
If you are making your sister a part of your wedding, even though she's not in the BP, I think its ok to suggest a color. But not force one on her. Sounds like its not drama that she's not in the BP so I wouldn't worry too much.

I think if while you're shopping you say 'I think you would look really nice in ___' it would be ok, but you can't TELL her what color you want her to wear if she is not in the BP.

Re: What color should she wear???
Thanks for the help!
It went well, she was very interested in what I wanted even though I kept insisting it wasn't up to me at all. She ended up buying the second dress she tried on (and actually left the dressing room with it on) and it is appropriate and flattering. We went with a complimentary navy color with a non-complimentary (but her style) platinum accent...she even let me know she plans on covering her tattoos... which is NOT something I've ever mentioned at all- she is trying to be nice and that's great... because there is some drama involved
