What color tux???

My girls dresses are chocolate brown with gold accent. Menswarehouse has a really nice dark brown tx and they would match it with an ivory shirt with gold tie and vest.

My dress is ivory so i was thinking of having him in the same brown tux with ivory shirt, tie and vest. He is giving me such a hard time wearing a brown tux. He wants to wear black but i really dont think a black tux will go

WHAT DO YOU LADIES THINK?

Black and Brown will look nice together.

I was skeptical too but then I think there was a post going around not too long ago about this and people posted pictures and it looked really nice together.

I will see if I can find the post.

EDIT: Found it!

Black when it comes to formal wear, definitely black, you can have them wear brown vests, a brown tux that is very 80's, this is very formal and can match your girls, take a look

Do Black tux, white shirt, black cummerbund or low-cut three button vest, and black bowtie.

Make the jacket a one-button, with a peak or shawl lapel.

Incorporating colors in tuxes looks tacky. If you want color, have him wear a suit.

I've seen photos of brown weddings where the men wore black tuxes and it looked fine. Just have them wear brown or gold or champagene vests and it blends very nicely.

Whoa, whoa, not trying to be a jerk.

A lot of people get confused about the proper rules for black tie, or see incorrect versions of tuxedos and think that it's appropriate black tie.

I'm all for wearing anything you want. If you want color, get a great 2 or 3-piece suit, pair it with a nice shirt and colored tie and pocket square and you can look fantastic.

If you want to wear a tuxedo, there is a right and wrong way to do it.

Look back at old wedding photos from the 70s for example and you will laugh at how dated they look. Heck, I do the same thing with my mom's wedding album!

I guarantee people will look back 20 years from now and see every groom in wedding photos with a white long tie and white high cut vest, and groomsmen in long ties and vests that match the bridesmaids dress color. It will SCREAM dated.

Now, you can disagree with me, and that's fine, but I stand by that sentiment.

Again, if you dont want to do black tie dress, go crazy and wear whatever you want!! If you do, there is a correct, and timeless way to approach it. Just trying to point out the way to do it!

If you do want to do black tie, tell me which of these two pictures will still look great in 20 years:

Just note lots of these brides aren't doing black tie only weddings. They're using that term so no one shows up n khakis. Yes some are going more fancy but the term has become much more used lately.

I hate bowties. Sorry...they remind me of my prom in 1987.
