We are more than likely going thru Weichert Financial... who they are gonna pawn us off to... is anyone's guess.

Watch out for Washington Mutual. The guy that bought my 1br used them. MAJOR pain in the arse. They delayed the closing bigtime. Then they wanted to take back his rate-lock by delaying the closing till after the lock expired. He had a sweet lock too (4 7/8% for 30yr). His lawyer ended up threatening them and they honored the lock. The appraisal company they used totally sucked. They lost the appraisal, and WM didn't realize this till a month later (more closing delays).

They give good rates and they seem 'friendly'... but their customer service is a joke. The guy buying my 1br ended up paying me 1month's maintenance and mortage interest cause my lawyer threatened not to close, cancel the deal, and keep his 20k deposit cause he was 60 days past the closing date on the contract thanks to WM.

We used a great broker who put us w/ Chase.

Just wanted to add a piece of advice. When you're comparing rates compare closing costs as well. That's why we didn't go with Washington Mutual (well that and the fact that they weren't good at returning phone calls). Wamu estimated closing costs to be about $5,000 more then Wells Fargo. Something to keep in mind.

The same thing happened to us. One brokers closing costs was like $4000 more than this guy. It was ridiculous.

We went through Bethpage Credit union. Their customer service stunk but our closing costs were pretty low and our rate was pretty good so I guess we cant complain.

A friend when through Washington Mutual and had a WONDERFUL experience, the whole process took him 5 weeks and he has NO problems with them and got a Great rate!!!!

We got our first one through Cendant online and our second house is Chase...My FH works there!!

We used Barry goldenberg of New York Mortgage- he is a vendor on LI Weddings. We got a GREAT rate and wonderful service. I would highly recommend him.
