It's that time for me...COMPLETION DISCOUNT...ahh, the bittersweet end of receiving gifts...
not quite sure what to get because I know that people want to shop off of the registry for our BDays and XMAS (but, I can't really count on that)

i say buy one full set of something for the completion discount. i voted for the crystal. then, i would slowly but the remaining things off of it - good luck!

I voted for your third choice (8 crystal, 8 flatware). You can then have a dinner party for 8 if you want. And then complete the sets over the years.
I don't know the cost of your items, but I would personally forgo the linens and use that allotment for more of the crystal or flatware. You can always buy a table cloth at Homegoods or on sale when it comes time to entertain.
