What did you do with your engagement photos?? Fh wanted to know the 'point.' Then I thought about it, too. why do we take these photos? Did anyone NOT take them professionally? Did you just use them for announcements?

We burned most of them because they were so terrible to look at.
We had one that we liked, but had some things we didn't like about it so we had it converted into an oil painting and asked the artist to change certain things.
It was really a great job!
ETA: The reason why they say they like to take them is so they can get an idea of how you photograph for the big day. It's their version of a CP sample, or a makeup trial, but it's not manditory.

We used ours for STDs and we made a book using them on Shutterfly. The book will be our sign in book at the wedding. The engagement shoot, for us, was a good time to get to know our photographer and I got my MU trial that day and got to see how it photographed.

Mine are included in my package. They are to get used to working with the photographer, and also so we will have a large frame with one of our e-pics on display at the wedding. We also get an engagement album and a littl;e mini pocket album of the pics.

We did them only a few weeks ago, about a month before our wedding, it was included in our wedding day package, I got one 8x10 free and also ordered a 5x7. I will be ordering a lot more this week to present on a table at our cocktail hour. May even do a photo book where all the guests sign it.......We did our shoot at the Beach in Oyster Bay right before sundown....

Mine were part of the package. I took the proofs and blew them up as gifts for our families for xmas. I also put them in a photo frame for my living room wall (all the black and white ones).
I was glad we did it. I was able to pick up things about my photographers style that I didn't like that I can avoid for my wedding day. For example, we are smiling in every picture. I would like some pics where we aren't smiling too. Definitley do it!

I used my first epic session (yes I had two) for my Save the Dates....
Then i changed photographers and got another session...those pics I simply just wanted because I love Duet's work. But we'll also use them for the photocube/cardbox at the wedding!

we put the proofs in an album, and used one of them as the sign in board for the wedding.. one of them we actually like so much we are going to use as our 16x20 enlargement instead of one of our wedding pics!

we used them in our zazzle stamps and our favor tags.. I had like 100 pictures left over so I put them in an album with those small cards with envelopes and made a sign in book

We didn't get ours professionally done... we found a hobby photographer to do them for $100 because we didn't think they were worth more than that..it was just a fun thing to do. We ended up using them for the engagement announcement, stds, and our photo cube.

our photographer included it in our package & actually gave us an engagement album...along with mini brag books (so i can carry it in pocketbook lol yea i'm a nerd)...anyways it's just nice to have i guess - and it also included a portrait to have at the entrance to our reception room (along with having the album set up)... u can see our e-pics in my album if u'd like :)

mine are also included in our package...Like the other girls mentioned its great to see how you work with your photographer and get to know them better . I am also using it for my STD's and I love pics so i love the fact that FH and I can have great, professional pics of us not just on our wedding day. Ill probably also use one of the pics at our wedding

We did ours the weekend before our e-party. The photographer got us a CD w/ the proofs two days later and we sent them to be developed online @ walgreens.com into (3)8x10 and a few 4x6 (each a different pic) .
We displayed 2 small ones on each table at the e-party , the larger ones were surrounding our cupcake tower and one we used in the sign in board. With each pic being different everyone had fun walking around mingling looking at each table's pics.
They loved them and I got my photographer (who is also a old school friend) alot of referals. We also plan on making them into an album online for FMIL and ourselves.

We had ours included with our photog. package.
I wanted them so that I could meet my photographer before the big day, see how well we photograph, get used to having our picture taken, etc.
I figured if we didn't use them for the wedding day, they'll just sit on our computer or in an album - which is nice too (to have memories of our engagement period) but I like the idea of using them for the wedding.
