What did you do with your train during cocktail hour?
If you traditionally bustle after the first dance, then during cocktail hour your train is still long. I know you can have the seamstress sew a loop of fabric into the train so that you can hold it, but then how can you eat if you are holding your train with one hand and a plate with the other? Do brides really not eat during their cocktail hour, or is there a way around this that I'm missing?

I plan on Having it buslted before the first dance. I am not going to be at my cocktail hour. But if i was i would still bustle it before then.

I bustled before CH and first dance. I didn't want to dance with the train dragging around. And DH stepped on it when it was bustled - it would have been worse if it wasn't!

Since my train was a detachable royal cathedral train and could not be bustled. I held my train during cocktail hour.

I bustled mine right after the ceremony before the CH and the first dance. I didn't want people stepping all over it during the CH. I took pictures before the ceremony, though, so I already had the pics with the long train.

You guys don't think you'll miss having pictures of your first dance with your full train?
ETA: That's the only reason why I have some reservations about bustling before the first dance. I kind of want pics with the long train. Can you bustle for CH, un-bustle for the dance, and re-bustle? Is that possible?

Oh, would it work to bustle for CH, and then have it unbustled right before you make your grand entrance? Someone can help do it in the bridal suite. Then bustle for the remainder of the reception? What do you girls think?

I didn't bustle until the first dance was over and I had no issues getting around. I didn't have a 20 foot train though??
You can have your seamstress put a loop on your train so you can pull it up and hold it, so no one steps on it. I had one of those, but I never used it because I just didn't care. I finally got to WEAR my dress...so I really didn't worry too much about getting around in it hehehe

We were taking picutres for our 1 1/2 hour cocktail hour so I didn't bustle it. I had it bustled after the 1st dance but I didn't like how it looked to I held it the rest of the reception. You would think that would be annoying but I didn't even notice.

Im going to bustle mine after the 1st dance and am not sure how much of the cocktail hour i will take part in- usuly that is when the pics are done- we are doing that before the cerimony

I had the loop for the CH and bustled right before we were announced. I would have hated to miss our second dance with all the other couples so it seemed to make sense to me. Oh and good luck with the eating during you cocktail hour. The only thing I had was shoved in my mouth by my MOH

Busteled right after the ceremony. I had all my train pics taken before and our grand entrance was perfectly fine with it busteled. I couldn't even imagine dragging it around or asking someone to re-bustle me...yikes..there was so much going on somebody would have killed me!

Maybe you should ignore my earlier opinion, because we didn't do a grand entrance, just walked in with everyone else from the CH - more our style.
As for eating during the CH, I had 2 of the passed appetizers and a friend got me a drink. That was it, and I was sort of bummed, but EVERYONE starts talking to you and you don't really get a chance to move around too much.

I think that is a good idea. You can bustle it for the CH, then spend the last few minutes in the bridal suite before your entrance and have your train unbustled. Then have it bustled again after the first dance.
