Thank you for coming to my shower, I hope you had a good time and it meant so much to me to have you there. I love your gift, it was very thoughtful/generous. We are going to get tons of use out of [insert whatever it was here].
And then I tried to include a personal message depending on who it was... like my aunt who I haven't seen in 3 years who drove all the way here or my realtives who flew up from florida... friends who made the trip or helped out in some way....

i did a personal message for each person. I mentioned the gift they gave and also tried to comment on why that person was special to me.
