my dress is coming in this month...i gotta figure out something good. everyone says spanx - did you wear those, or something similar?

depends on your dress style for sure!!
I wore a sexy corset under mine that went to below my belly (to match the line on my dress, smooth things out and give my non existent chest aLITTLE lift ) then nothing else below that. . I figured my dress went out from the hips/waist so no point in squeezing hips/things in something that would just make me MORE hot bc it wasnt contoured in those regions. . IF you have a hip hugging dress then spanx can be great but otherwise you might not need them. .

My dress is a mermaid style. I have a strapless....I think i want to get something like a tube skirt for the bottom. I just really want lower tummy suck in ...... but the dress is satin/silk on the bottom, so of course I wouldn't want lines to show...........

which ones did you pick? I'm so concerned about showing under -- mine is fitted, too. I saw their website, but there were a ton of different ones!

Depending on how the next few months cycle, I'm going to wear just a ivory satin thong I have and that's it...getting cups sewn in the dress, and I don't need spanx or anything like that. My store actually told me not to wear them or a bra because my dress is so fitted.

I got spanx but didn't end up wearing them. Try going to Lord and Taylor, you can try them on and find one that you think will work. They told me I could return it, so you could buy one, try with the dress, and return or exchange it if it doesn't look right.
BTW, Blums in on main street in Patchogue. I think they may carry spanx too but I don't know if they would allow returns.

I am wearing a white corset and white bootie shorts. One of my girlfriends told me not to wear a thong because (not to sound gross) but she said I would get a swampy *ss! LOL I was like hmmm ok thanks for that tip!

Not sure....I am going for my first fitting next week so I am going to bring my spanx or I had little boy briefs made up with Mrs. S on it so I want to see if I can wear them under my dress...my dress is VERY fitted but it has ruffled fabric on it so it may hide lines.

I think the spanx that go from under your bust down to mid calf would be the best for your dress. That would have no lines at all :o)

The ones I'm wearing go from right under your bust/top of the rib cage, and end right below the knees (capri length). You don't see any lines at all.
I wore them around under a maxi dress the entire day before going for my fittings. While they are tight, and quite a pain in the azz to take off if you have to use the bathroom, I didn't mind the feeling at all. But.........I will suffer for beauty!!
I think spanx are very necessary under a mermaid dress-it doesn't matter if you're a size zero or a 20, they definitely make a difference!
And you will need them for every fitting. I got mine at Nordstrom. They don't have the style I got at Bloomingdales.

I orginally bought a nice corset but during my last fitting I thought the lady took in the dress to much because i felt I couldnt breath when I sat down. Turns out the corset was toooooo tight so she ended up sewing cups in the dress which made me feel so much more comfortable
I'm also wearing lacy white boycut undies. My dress is Aline so I dont have to worry about the bottom but I also want to wear something cute

ITA! I wore Higher power spanx...LOVED them...though I took em off with my last pee, I was sick of wearing them...(I also wore a baby blue lace thong, I know I'm not supposed to but the Spanx pee hole weirds me out)

I did not wear a bra, my dress was so tightly-fitted on top my girls weren't going anywhere...even when i danced. I wore 'got husband' thongs, my DH loved them, lol. As far as pantyhose....waaayyy too hot to wear those things in July, so I wore nothing on my legs except the garter.
