What DJ and why?

Ok, I might get a little annoying as I'm going to post each thing separately, but I just don't want to get confused, so this one is about DJ...

What DJ are you using and why?
What do you get in your contract?
approx how much is it costing?
$= Under $300.00
$$= $300.00-$499.00
$$$= $500.00-$799.00
$$$$= $800.00-999.00
$$$$$= $1000.00-1499.00
$$$$$$= $1500.00-2000.00

We are 999999% sure we're going with Get In Tune, I just have a few more appointments.

We loved Glen and his pricing was pretty good for what I wanted!

Re: What DJ and why?

We booked an Indian DJ in New Jersey. FH's mom has used him for 2 other occasions and he plays everything, so I don't have to worry about finding a DJ who plays my type of music and Indian music.

What's in the contract:
Cocktail Hour
Reception
Monogram
Dhol Player (an Indian drummer, FH wanted it)
Lighting (but not the uplighting, he was charging a reasonable price but we just couldn't afford it)

Can't tell you how much, it's in our contract that we aren't allowed to tell anyone how much we paid. But I will say it's more than we planned to pay.

Our DJ is doing

Ceremony
Cocktail Hour
Give aways
4 hour reception
Plasma TV with snapshots
$1695- he was one of the cheapest around.
He did my friends wedding and I have never seen a DJ be able to get people up the way he did. He even remembered everyone in the bridal parties name and mentioned them on the microphone when they were dancing.

He was really great!
FM me for more info.

We are also adding a 60 pic montage for $350 - I wasn't going to but my step-dad offered to pay for it.

ETA: He really works with you- and if you want to tweek the pckg to get it down to a better price he will.

We went with Bravo sounds in Astoria NY
Ben was our MC and John was our DJ!

Also worth EVERY freakin penny! I danced by butt off!! They kept that dance floor up and pumping ALL NIGHT LONG! I got a few phone calls after the wedding of people who really enjoyed the music. Let's just say- it wasn't ur typical greek wedding music..lol

I chose Ultimate sound dj's because from the videos i saw of them in action they reassured me that they would be able to handle Spanish music and know what a Spanish audience wants to listen too. Im paying $1,150.

Tommy Tunes.. they were competitively priced compared to the other DJs we saw.. all of them were in about the 1500-2000 range for 4 hours dj and mc

TT was 1650 i think for 4 hours dj and mc

Using...In the MIX DJ

Getting the following

DJ for 4 hour reception
added an extra hour for CH
intelligent lighting
4 Kinetics LED lights for perimeter
These items are originally priced to total $1700.

I got a few discounts, so I am paying $1200.

I can't say enough about them. They were amazing, had everyone up on the dance floor and absolutely a pleasure to work with.

Dash of Class
We were just at a friends wedding they did and they were great. Also, my other friend's family used them and had rave reviews. They aren't annyoing, don't scream over the microphone and play what you ask. We're getting a dj, mc, 4 hours of music for reception and 1 hr for cocktail hr, uplighting using 25 boxes, computerized to change color for around 2000.

Ceremony music plus mics
1 hour CH
4 hour reception
2 50inch plasma's with zap shots
percussionist
uplighting

its over 2K

Re: What DJ and why?

I agree with Jackie...I think it's REALLY tough to find a dj for under $1000.

We are going with High Voltage. We loved Vinny and the price was awesome! We are getting 5 hours of music, plus lighting for $1300

I WENT WITH DASH OF CLASS AS WELL. I GOT EVERYHING YOU DID BUT ADDED A MONOGRAM TO BE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DANCE FLOOR. THE PRICE WAS A LITTLE OVER 2000 BECAUSE OF THE MONOGRAM. BUT I THOUGHT THEY HAD THE BEST PRICES. NEVER SEEN THEM IN ACTION, BUT I HOPE THEY ARE GOOD. MY WEDDIGN IS IN 3 MONTHS.

BTW, I love how you post your questions, this will not only help you but sooo many other brides.

What DJ are you using- Raphael Gordon of Music Mixed Intelligently. I booked with him based on past brides on this site who used him.

What do you get in your contract- DJ only, music for cocktail and reception, favors, and basic lighting.

approx how much is it costing-$$$$= $800.00-999.00

Re: What DJ and why?

We are using FM Entertainment. We are only having a DJ, no MC, basic light show, ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception music= about $900.....so it can be done!

FM is great. I went with them after meeting them and liking what I saw. So many LIW girls had recommended them too. They seemed very reasonable.
