The braxton hicks felt like just some bad period cramps to me. Its very possible that, that is what you are feeling. I got them about 4 weeks before I was due

My experience with Braxton Hicks was when I could feel tightness across my belly that would feel like a cramp. The belly would get real hard and then when it was done would get softer again. They were not painful though.

I got both the tightening of the belly, to the point that I could barely move, and I also got the BAD CRAMPS. I was told that was false labor.. thats why I never thought I had contractions, and REAL LABOR, I thought everything was my body preparing and BH CX.
Phyl-How did the Dr. go ? check your forum mail !

back...
HI Girls- Midwife said that this is to be expected..asked where I was feeling them. I told her along the sides of my belly... Said I should drink more water and that would help...also to add lemon to the water and it would act more like a diruetic (sp?) ...Just what I need!!! Also told me to take a warm bath- Great! if it happens at NIGHT!
She also told me to put up my feet when I get home- that they should be higher than my heart..and that would help with swelling of my calves and feet. Great! but not so easy to do when I get home 630-7ish, eat dinner, wash up...then all I can do is maybe answer some mail or go to sleep. I guess I need to force myself to take it a bit easier- people have been telling me to do that esp since I commute into the city, etc...

Re: back...
Phyl-
Definitely take it easy when you can!! Believe me, I know how hard it is. I'm still having trouble with it. Everyone says to 'sleep when the baby sleeps' now and I find that almost impossible to do.
My legs from the knees to toes were perpetually swollen for the last 4 months between the summer heat and then just the end of the pregnancy and really the rest is all you can do, it's not like retaining water in a non-pregnant state where you can limit salt or drink more water to flush it out. Getting those feet above the heart is vital. Good news though, I have my slender ankles back finally
When are you working until??

work...
hoping to work as close to the due date as possible..Two reasons: 1) what am I gonna do at home except feel useless...since I cant clean or straighten up? ( that just me!)
2)it will start my maternity leave early- b4 the baby is here- and I dont have a lot of time off anyway...so I dont want to 'waste' it.
Of course, if the DR says different, then I will take off.
Heres to hoping our little one arrives on time...or a little bit after xmas. ( That way the days the office are closed for the holiday- I will be home preparing and getting paid!)

Fluids are super important. I also heard that drinking water helps you during contractions.
