In between the church and the reception. I have a long gap (4 hours) after the church until the CH starts. My Bridal party and I will be taking pictures at a seperate location. I'm having my wedding at a Vineyard so I figured guests can go wine tasting or my mother said she would have people over for coffee during that time.
Do you girls have any other ideas? TIA!!!!

We had our ceremony and reception in a hotel, so we had set up hospitality suites with chairs, a TV, soda and water for guests to hang out in during the break. We figured those who were staying in the hotel would just go upstairs to their room and the others would hang out in the hospitality room.
Our gap was 2 hours and we had many people just come to the reception and skip the ceremony.

i am going to a wedding this june that has a 4 hour gap between the church and reception.
we will be staying in a hotel so between the 2...we will just go back and hang out at the hotel...and probably finish getting ready.

I had a similar time gap and didn't plan anything for my guests. Some went home to change for the reception, others went back to the hotel to relax or check in, and others went to the bar at the RH and hung out. Don't worry too much about it, people will find something to do.

For an aquaintance's wedding, she had a 3 hour gap in between chruch and recpetion...So we just went back home and relaxed a bit befroe we left again for the party

We have about a 3 1/2 hour gap between ceremony and reception. Guests can either go home and relax, or OOT'ers can go to the hotel. My sister also mentioned possibly opening her home for cocktails since it's HUGE and she lives about a mile from my RH.

If we have that occur, we're probably going to let the guests fend for themselves.
My theory is that if they are from Long Island, they will easily be able to figure out something to do/be able to go home, and if they are not from Long Island then they will have a hotel that they cn go relax at for awhile.

If its a wedding with a big gap, I wear something more casual, and then go home or to the hotel to change.
Don't stress about it, it happens a lot and its not your responsibility to fill every second!

my FH's brother and sisterinlaw had a 3 hour gap between theirs, AND the church and hall were only 15 minutes from each other, which was in northern nassau, while we're in southern suffolk, so my FIL's made arrangements with a local diner for us to go for coffee and tea, we actually had a decent time.

I'm going to sound like an a$$hole but I've skipped a ceremony before and just went to the reception when there was too much of a gap between. But I have a different situation - I don't drive and had no way of getting to the ceremony, back home and then to the reception. So I just waited until FH was around later to drive me. Oh well - it would definitely be different if I had my own mode of transportation (and a license )
