~What do i do?~Hurricane, baby, dog and Landlady?!?

The lady that I rent from and I are really close.. I go upstairs (i live in a basement apartment) more than I am really downstairs. And I also tolerate her son... and annoying dog.

She tells me today that if the Hurricane does hit LI, Her, her son and her dog (whom I have given the name DevilDog) will need to come downstairs.

With all the planning for our upcoming wedding, and being a mom of a 6 month old, my place is a little untidy. Not to mention TINY!!!

I have My bedroom, a semi walk-in closet that I use as a changing room/ closet, a living area, which has the babys crib, a rocker, my entertainment unit, and the babys step and play piano. I have a FOos-ball table of HER SONS inmy kitchen area taking up 90% of the kitchen area. a sink and counter space. And a bathroom with a single shower, sink and toilet. No stove that works.. Just a micro and toaster oven.

I dont want them down here for two reasons.. Well two and a half-
WHERE am I gonna put them???? And If teh dog comes down (a) Hes gonna come down again once they are back upstairs (hes never been down here) AND (b) theres gonna be black dog hair ALL OVER THE BABYS THINGS!!!!!

I know it's not the answer you are looking for.
But I am really optimistic. I don’t think it's going to hit very hard. I think we will have high winds and a lot of rain - but I don’t think the rooves are going to be flying off! Worst case scenario I think you are looking at a guest for a cup of coffee and some crumbcake for a few hours!

Are you related to your landlady? If not, I don't see how it is appropriate for her to impose on you like that!!! Tough situation - if you are close with her, maybe you can talk to her

I think for a couple of hours, it wouldn't be so bad, right? I hope it doesn't hit hard, but it is her house. She could decide to up your rent or throw you out if she gets upset that you didn't let her down.
I would tell her your concern about the baby and the dog ... but if we do get a bad hurricane, for the safety of everyone in the house, it is best to be in the basement.

I don't think it's really going to hit us.
I would tell her that if she didn't mind that you'd prefer not to have the dog downstairs due to the hair.

As far as the dog goes....can you put him on his leash and attach it to a door to confine him to one area? That way he won't shed all over your place.

The actual storm shouldn't last too long.
