Re: What do I give..
How active is he for 80? Does he have hobbies? Is his wife still living or does he have a 'companion'?(I think that is how people refer to boyfriends and girlfriends when they get older). Maybe a restaurant GC or a dinner theater GC.
Does he collect anything? Would he enjoy tickets to a concert?

Re: What do I give..
He's wife (my aunt) is still living, they are not very active, and they both barely speak any English (they speak Italian). This is going to be really tough...

Fruit of the month club from Harry and David's?
Or some sort of home delivered food. Omaha Steaks or something that they will receive at home.

How about putting together an Italian speciality basket? You know, cured olives in a jar, roasted red peppers in a jar, a few boxes of pasta, a box of the Italian nouget (sp?) candy, etc. I did something like that for my grandmother when she got out of the hospital. A lot of higher end supermarkets (Stop and Shop, Whole Foods) have good Italian products. You can also throw in some sort of gift certificate.
