some places require a birth certificate, you need some sort of proof like a license and if youve been divorced you need divorce papers. I believe thats it. Oh and bring $$ because Im sure it costs something.

We needed to bring two forms of ID, one being a driver's license or passport, something with a photo, and the other could be anything, like an insurance card, credit card, etc.
It cost $40. We got it down in the Town of Hempstead. It took all of maybe 30 minutes. Very quick and convinient.
I don't know if all the towns are different, but you can do a google search for your town hall and then there should be info about the Town Clerk's office and obtaining Marriage Licenses. If not, at least get your Town Hall/Town Clerk's phone number and call beforehand.
