what do I put on a small burn?

On my EAR?!?!

My hand cramped yesterday, I dropped the hair straightener and it clipped my upper ear (cartilage) on the way to the ground.

It's a little blistery and VERY itchy this morning - what can I put on it?

I am SUCH a spaz

TIA

First of all Shorty .. OUCH!!

I know they sell this stuff called First Aid cream, I've used it for minor burns and things like, superficial cuts, etc. and its very helpful .. and its soothing

since it was yesterday vaseline might be ok, but vaseline is the WORST thing to put ona burn.. it traps in the heat!

is bacitracin (ugh, sp.) or hydrocortizone a no no?

eta: I JUST cleaned out the medicine cabinet Sunday and tossed the vaseline 'cause it smelled really bad. Don't have any first aid cream, but I do have baci..etc. and hydrocortizone...

Cortizone may stop the itch, bacitracin would be good because it'll kill any germs and prevent infection..also does bacitracin have an analgesic in it? that'll stop the pain

Aloe vera is great for burns!

i was just going to say that...
if you have an actual aloe vera plant, then you can split the leaf open and use the gel that's on the inside..works wonders

You're gonna think I'm nuts here. I used to get burns all the time at work and one of the dishwashers recommended putting either butter or toothpaste on the burns to soothe them. Both worked great, but butter seemed to work the best.

Butter is also not supposed to be good for a burn. It might feel better, but like someone said above, I think it traps the heat inside and affects healing. Aloe is the best to use, IMO.

Were we separated at birth? The same thing happened to me with the curling iron this morning and I burned my lip... I put some A & D ointment on it right away. No blister yet..

I second aloe vera...you can't go wrong with it.

Rosebud Salve. I use it for my lips always but it's also a salve for burns (how it actually began). You can get it at sephora.
