What do the guest do between the ceremony and reception?
I am having family issues with a 2 hour down time after the ceremony. I think it is not a big deal and if it is DON'T COME! What do u think?

I think people worry too much about things. If you have 2 hrs, then they need to deal with it the best way they can.... My ceremony is at 4:30pm and reception at 8pm....there's more than 2 hrs! Maybe they can all meet up at a bar near the catering hall or at someone's house or hotel room to kill the time.....I know my cousin got married at Vineyard caterers...so we just drove around and did some wine tasting! It was FUN!

My FMIL is having a gathering for the OOT guests at her house in between. Everyone else who lives there can figure that one out on their own.

for me it's a big deal as well...
i am electing to have ceremony and then reception IMEDIATELY following because i don't want guests to have to twiddle their thumbs. the reception is 4:00-9:00 so we will schedule the ceremony around 2:00/2:30. it's a 30-40 minute drive from church to reception and i want to keep the continuum...

Just be prepared that a decent amount of people may choose to skip the ceremony!

yea, i didn't think 2 hrs was a big deal. Of course my family waits until now to complain. With the wedding nearly 1 month away.

I feel bad saying this but i agree. A co-worker of mine had 2 1/2 hours in between ceremony and reception..I opted to go only to the reception

My ceremony is at 3PM and my CH doesn't start until 7PM. I am having a full mass so by the time we get out of the church after pictures and everything it is going to be about 4:30PM-5PM and then it is a 20 min drive to the Sans Souci.
I know most people are going to opt not to go to the ceremony but that is OK b/c it is a Friday night anyway and most people will have to work until 5PM

I would like to ask the priest... ...if he can push back the church time. ?
I have the ceremony starting at 3pm. But, I would like to start at 3:30pm -- Then have the reception from 7-12am...
I do not want a large gap in time between the church and the reception hall. I have been thinking about that too!!!! Also, I may just opt for the Ceremony......It is alot quicker, but because I don't go to church every sunday...the priest says I am not entitle to the Mass...O well!!!

I was freaking out a little about the time gap .. also 2 hours.. but we dont have alot of oot guests.. and my mom lives up the block from the church.. FMIL offered to take some of her family to her house ( also close to the church) after.. but I am afraid once they sit down and start talking they will never stop.. and I dont want them to miss the amazing cocktail hour!!!! See if you hall will provide a strawberry/champagne (sp?) cart so guests can sit and drink, use the restroom, (Kill time) before the CH

They can find things to do, go for coffee, go to someones house, go for a drive, check in at the motel, ect.... Its not the first nor will it be the last wedding with down time. You have other things to worry about! Your guests will be fine!

I am making my programs and on the last page I am putting a list of options for the guest to do while they are waiting. I am listing local coffee houses, parks, etc. My church is at 3:30 and my reception is at 6:30. We could have chosen a closer time frame with the church, but my photographer told us we need three hours. I would check with the photographer. You don't want to be late to your own reception. My fiance and I want to go to the cocktail hour too. Good Luck!
