Ok. I am taking a break from the wedding planning (although I haven't done much - just making lists and things of tips from these boards) until the end of May when we'll really begin to plan. But....
I want to know what you did - did you pick a date out first and then choose your hall based on if that date was available, or did you choose the hall and then pick whatever date was available and/or at the right price?

You have enough time that you can probably do both. When we went we had a date in mind, and it was available at every hall we looked at...so it worked out fine. Maybe it's better if you don't wait until may to book the hall and book it ASAP so you get to choose. If you don't already ahve a date solidly in mind, then I guess pick the hall first!

We picked the month. Then we picked the hall. Then we took the last day they had available in June.

we just knew a saturday in may.. hall had 2 saturdays available, called the photographer i wanted, told him both dates, and he was only free on one of the dates, and thats the date we booked. done

we picked the date first, but went looking at halls with an open mind. We looked so early we did not have a probleming getting the date we wanted

When we looked at halls, we told them we wanted to be married in late May or in June. As we visited halls, we narrowed down where we wanted our reception and the weeks we wanted. When we decided on our hall, we had a choice of 2 weekends in June and decided which would be easier - having an extra week to get things done! lol
We got engaged on Christmas Eve 2004 - less then 6 months to prepare and plan

If you have a specific date in mind, I would check with the hall first too see it they are available.

We knew what hall we wanted, so we worked around the hall's availability.

The date, then the reception site, then the church.
