What do you disagree with your candidate about?

I'd never lobby for taking a way a woman's right to choose, but I think you have a to draw the line with partial birth abortions. I'd agree to a ban that gave certain exceptions, but Kerry didn't give the impression that he wanted to move on that.

I'm also not sure about embryonic stem cell research. I don't understand why they can't use adut stem cells or existing lines. I don't really know enough about it.

I thought in the debate last night, Kerry said that he voted against the bill because it did not include provisions for things like if the mother's life was in danger.

I agree w/ stem cell research...I mean really go all the way with it. The reason they are having an issue with the lines they have is because it really isn't enough. My dad's diabetic, things like this would really help someone like him. Bush limits it too much for my taste. By not having stem cell research all of a sudden abortions aren't just going to stop...and otherwise you have precious genetic material being thrown in the trash. Why not use it?

I had to see a documentary about partial birth abortion (I don't remember why, it was a while ago). I agree with the ban...they take the fetus apart piece by piece...you know, tear legs and arms off...it's really disturbing! However, I feel as though when the mother's life is in danger they should maybe remove by C-section or something. Maybe try to get the baby to live...if it doesn't then it doesn't, but it's better than a partial birth abortion.

What you have to realize too is that sometimes things get tacked on to bills that have nothing to do with the bill (sometimes) or that the bill has alot of different componants to it. And some of the things in it a senator or representitive may not wnat to have passed so they vote 'nay' on the bill.

Like with Kerry - there were certain provisions of the partial abortion ban and that's why he voted no.

I've read the text of some bills that are mostly for one thing and there's an amendment tacked on in the end for something else and if a rep or senator doesn't want that one thing badly enough, they're going to vote no even if the bulk of the bill is something they would normally vote yes on.

It sucks. But that's politics for ya.
