Re: What do you do at the RD dinner?

Hi Allison - obviously I haven't had mine yet - but, the last one I went to was really nice.

They past around old funny pics of them (they were dating for 11 years) and of family and the bridal party. It was nice and it broke up the evening.

They also both gave a very nice speech, in which the bride cried and it made everyone else cry.

and of course handed out all the presents. It was a really nice time.

Also, we are thinking of having Joe's cousin say a speech - he's not the best man, but close enough to us to be - we don't want him to feel left out.

hope that helps!!!

Re: What do you do at the RD dinner?

We had a lot of out of town guests, so our rehearsal dinner was a great time for us to see a lot of our guests and catch up. Prior to the dinner beginning, we had a cocktail hour. During the cocktail hour we ran through with our officiant and bridal and grooms party what the ceremony would be like (we didn't do a real rehearsal at our wedding site). We did this in a separate outdoor area away from our guests. Then we sat down for dinner. My husband's father and mother made toasts as did my MoH. The rest of the time was filled with eating, hanging out and relaxing.

Some people have more formal dinners--where there is lots of toasting. We also gave to all of our readers, bridal and grooms party members their gifts from us prior to the rehearsal dinner. I've been to rehearsal dinners when they are given out then.

Hope this helps.
