What do you do for your skin?

What do you do for your skin?

So my two major priorities for the next few months are to eat well/exercise and hopefully lose some weight and tone up and get my skin under control.

I have crazy sensitive skin. I take allergy pills so that I won't break out in hives daily. What is really driving me nuts is that I keep breaking out on my chest/back. Gross, I know. I'm nervous about this and having to wear a strapless wedding dress that dips low in the back. So I'm wondering what you all do for your skin. What's your skin care regimen, esp to prevent lovely bacne?

I have a great dermatologist who has given me countless prescription creams but they are too drying. At this point, I really want things that are not harsh and easy and soothing on the skin. I'm also wondering if I may be allergic to something and I just don't know it.

So tell me what are you doing/using that works for you.

the best thing that works for me is tons and tons of water with lemon and herbal teas. less caffeinated drinks & alchohol

As soon as I stop doing the above, i notice a change in my skin.

oh, and make sure you are sleeping in clean sheets/pillow cases. gl!

satin sheets are better than cotton also- less irritation.(learned that pre-cepting a dermatologist)

have you gone to an allergist, or just a dermatologist?

Drinking lots of water & Exercise does wonders for your skin! Just make sure to shower the sweat off right after.

I am having a similar issue with my back. I break out often, usually just one or 2 pimples but it stands out and I'm worried about having that for my wedding day bc my dress is strapless. I am going to try Neutrogena Body Wash which is suppose to be really good. I have used Neutrogena products for years and they are the best, great for sensitive skin and not irritating. Maybe you can try it and see if it works for you?? Proactive also has a special body wash for bacne but I used to use proactive, and it is VERY drying, but ive never used the body wash.

HTH!!

Thanks everyone.

I've only seen a dermatologist so I think it may be helpful to see an allergist. I often wonder if I'm eating and/or using products that may be irritating me. Let me know if you have a recommendation.

Sun! FH gets horrible backne and once summer hits and he's living shirtless in the sun he clears up. Stand up tanning beds can do the same thing for winter.

I hate to admit this, but I've actually been going tanning for the same reason. I was in Aruba last month for vacation after not being in the sun for almost two yrs. I got a nice base tan and I've been going tanning, not for the color, but to keep my skin in check.

sumaxin cloths (rx from derm) have been a lifesaver for that super awful deep acne. It dried out my skin for about a week and now it's just amazinggggggg (neck, jawline, back). i also use duac gel at night (my formerly blue pillowcase is now white). my super sensitive skin is thankful for taking control of this.

i also drink a TON of water.

I have sensative skin and I find the neutrogena is drying for my skin. I really just was with Dove Moisturizing soap and clean and clear acne wash when needed. I also use Differin for my face pimples and Clindmycin for my back, both are RX prescrips.

If you are going to start any meds, start ASAP. Sometimes they take a few weeks for them to work and/or any reactions to come up. In HS I was started one acne med and 6 weeks later I broke out in a rash and swelled up like Will Smith in Hitch.

When you take a shower - wash out your conditioner THEN wash your body. Sometimes the conditioner going down you back when you rinse it out can cause 'bacne.'

On my back and chest I switch between medications because they seem to lose effectiveness after a couple of months of continuous use. What the dermatologist prescribed to me was too irritating. Right now I just started to use proactive on my chest and back again. I also switch to using Clearasil 10%. Not the generic because it seems that the Clearasil is the most effective. I've been having this problem lately and I have 18 days left!!!! The proactive mask works wonders. I just started using it again last night and my chest cleared up 50%. I think it's made with sulfur. Not sure if you would be allergic to that though. I wish you luck. FM me if you have anymore questions.
