What do you do if...

What do you do if...

Your FH doesn't like an idea you had for the wedding. No matter what it is. Do you try to convince him to do it or just let it go?

TIA

Depends what it is...and How much I love the idea

Depends on how much I love the idea. I will usually try to make him see things my way, then I give up. LOL! I am a wimp.

agree. depends WHAT it is. if its something like the clergy or the photographer, then i might stick to my guns...cake or flowers or something like that i'd let it roll. really up to you to decide how important in the grand scheme the issue is and if there is any room to bend.

I agree, it depends on how stronlgy I feel about it. I am very lucky though, he generally doesn't disagree much and he trusts my decisions.

Whether or not I give in also depends on how strongly and why he doesn't like something. He usually doesn't feel that strongly on many things so if he is reacting toward something than there is probably a good reason why!

Good luck!

It's more like I'll say something and he won't respond right away as to whether or not he likes the idea so RIGHT away I know he doesn't like it. I can read into his looks so I can tell when he doesn't like something. He won't come out and say, 'I don't want to do that' he just won't way he wants to.

Honestly, it's not a huge decision that we're making. It's just lil things like placecards and stuff like that.

Oh, well I can't help you with that then. I have the typical guy who doesn't really care one way or the other. He cares about the biog things like DJ, music, gifts for the GM, and their tuxes...other than that he just yeses me to death and doesn't get involved!!

We had an e-party where he also let me do what I wanted...everything came out great and when a friend of his said how awesome the party was a few days later he just looked at me and said 'thanks to her, she made it all happen!' So I know he trusts that I have good ideas (or it could be that he just has no ideas!) and it works out great for both of us that he reserves his opinions for a few things!!!

Good luck!

Depends... So far he has agreed with every decision I made. I think he is a typical guy in that 1) he sees this as the bride's day and he'd be surprized if anyone realized he was there or if there was a stand in and 2) it doesn't matter to him... just tell him what to wear and when to be there. It's not that he's not interested he's just a typical guy. I guess I'm lucky that way.

Re: What do you do if... (sorry if too long)

I think asking him WHY he may not like stuff might help. There's no way grooms get as caught up in the planning as we do, and maybe your groom feels a little left out, and wants to be included, but does not know how to do it, so he passively disagrees with you. (I'm not saying you've done anything wrong - NOT AT ALL - guys, including my guy, don't already have opinions on placecards, so it's hard for them to speak up when they don't know anything about them). That being said, I know my FH does not like a lot of frill and flowers and I know sometimes, I overload on the frill and flowers. That alone may be your problem. So, talking may help you find ways to carry out your ideas that you both like. Maybe if he sees what placecards are about, or sample CPs, or whatever, he'll form his own ideas about what he likes. Good luck!!

ETA - Ok, almost no groom gets as involved as we do. Some grooms have definite ideas about all aspects of wedding planning - and I think no groom should be more or less involved than he wants to be. After all, we love them as they are!

Little things like place cards and stuff...then I just say 'honey look at OUR place cards' and he usually says 'oh, nice' - men dont really care! LOL Luckilly most things he says 'yes' to...only 1 or 2 'no' things. I also just do a lot w/o him and show him the final product. Saves time and stress

I would try to convince him. My FH has been great all throughout planning so (well overall ), he knows I have all these visions of what I want and he doesnt try to stand in my way.

It depends on what it is. If FH says no to something, I gave in because he isint too involved in the little things so when he says he doesnt like something, I know he means it and I compromise.
When I said I was making Ribbon wands for the church, he didnt like them, but I made them anyway and he liked them a little in the end. That was the only small thing I did anyway.
