What do you do when....

What do you do when....

Ok. Here is the situation (and I don't mean the one from the jersey shore..lol):

FH and I had an engagement party on Sunday. Sunday night, we opened all of our cards and gifts. However, there was one gift that was wrapped and had no card attached to it. So we figured when we were done, we would just be able to match them up with a card that had nothing in it and was not attached to a gift.

Well....there were two cards (no money in them or anything) that could have been attached to this gift (my great aunt or the best man). So, we are assuming that one of them did not get us a gift, but they did get us a card. On the other hand, we find it hard to believe that either one of these ppl did not get us a gift (I know that sounds snotty, but I definitely am not trying to be like that).

So my question is...what do you do when this happens? Should FH call the best man and say that there was a mix up and just wanted to make sure we are sending a thank you card to him for the gift? On the other hand, what if he did not get us a gift? I don't want him to feel bad.

ok what was the gift and where was it from?

If its something girly you can pretty much figure its from the great aunt.

or...you can just send both of them a nice TY card w a safe message. Thank you so much for coming..blah blah blah. It meant s much to us to have you there...blah blah blah.

Better yet, include a comment about a gift. That way no one gets insulted and maybe the other person will feel bad! lol

Can you tell by the handwriting in the card?? Can you ask either your mom or his mom if they can do some snooping around to find out if the Great Aunt gave a gift..

In my experience, it would be the great aunt that didn't give a gift and maybe forgot to put $$ in... Does the gift seem like it'd be something the Best Man would get you guys?

Hi Gals,

The gift was a can opener from bed bath and beyond. The best man and his wife got married last year and she is pretty good with the whole registry thing. I am thinking you are right about my Aunt forgetting to put money in the card. I'll have to have my family do some snooping. lol.
