'borrowing' sand from Long Beach and using that in my centerpiece?? Instead of buying several bags, Long Beach can donate it to me Is this good? My mom said its not the same sand, but I thought-who cares, no one is touching it Thoughts??

I am definitely doing that for my centerpieces. I live in Long Beach now...there is plenty of sand to be borrowed

I once almost got arrested for taking rocks from Cedar Beach!!! (which has more than enough to spare a few)

Make several trips for the sand if you need a lot. Just don't bring pails! You can get in trouble.

Be careful of sand directly from the beach. It could be smelly. When I was a kid we collected a bunch of shells from the beach, washed them off in hot tap water and soap and put them in a glass jar. Within a couple of days they STUNK like dead fish. A little bleach made it better.
