I just spoke to the person who is going to do my cocktail hour and ceremony music. What do you guys think of this plan?
From 5-5:30pm when the guests arrive, two violins and one flute will be playing at the top of the staircase at the castle.
From 5:30-6pm for the ceremony we will have a piano, two violins, a flute, and a piccolo trumpet.
For the cocktail hour, we will have the trumpet, piano, 2 violins, bass, and a musician who plays flute and sax (he switches depending on the song).

Sounds like a great plan... very appropriate for Oheka! The music will fit the atmosphere there very well.

Just make sure the sax/flute player is REALLY good. They take two totally different embrochures to play, and if they are not a really good player, the flute playing can be VERY thin. I only say this because I am a professional flutist, and we are always told to stay away from other instruments. Other than that, the combo sounds great. PS-I am not trying to make you nervous about your choice, just be aware.

Thanks Rachel-
I hoped that you would respond because I know that you are a professional musician.
Oheka recommended this group. The leader was the former director of the Rainbow Room.

I'm sure everything will be great. I will have a hell of a time choosing musicians for my coctail hour. I'm SO picky. Sometimes too much knowledge can be a bad thing! I would love to use people I know, but I also know what can happen when you mix your personal relationships with business. not always pretty. So we'll see. If you have any specific questions, please feel free to FM me! Good luck

Re: What do you guys think of the music?
that sounds like a lot of maneuvering for such a short period of time and i would personally be worried about the coordination in 1/2 hour increments. if these people have worked together before and have done what you have requested before, then perhaps it will be no biggie. it sounds wonderful, but keep in mind that setup and warm up take some time as well...
