I had favors and centerpieces. FH didn't want to do a first dance, so we didn't. I did everything possible to make mine a mini-wedding, I figured, why do it once?
I only get one chance to really celebrate our engagement so go all out! Basically, I also used it as a chance to try out vendors, like our personalized napkins and matches(ebay) and I also got to see what was a huge hit!

Mine was totally casual as we had it at my parent's backyard. We had it catered with staff though. It was just a nice way for everyone to meet & mingle. We didn't have favors- just plenty of good food & company.

We had ours at a restaurant. I made favors and we had some engagement balloons. Nothing too crazy - just a casual way for the the families to meet and mingle.

we had a first dance, centerpieces, no balloons and the centerpieces were used as favors. but our parties are all about food and dancing so we had that covered very well
