Hi girls. Well as most you know, we got our dining room set last weekend. :) So tonight we are going to the in-laws to pick up our china.
My question is, what do you have in your china cabinet and how do you have it arranged. I just want to put our china and our wine glasses in there, but I am not sure how to set it up so you can see it all. My frined has the plate in the back and everything else stacked in front with the tea cup topping it off... I am not sure if I am crazy about stacking my china like that...
Any suggestions, pictures?? Thanks, P.S. Please respond fast, I want to put everything away tonight! :)
I don't have one...and don't think I even will (maybe buffet, but thats it)
but my mother has German dishes called sammlntaschen (translates as collection of plates) displayed...and she stands the dinner plate up...and puts the cup and saucer in front of it...
I think there are 4 shelves to display...and she puts 2 in each...
not sure if I have a picture...but I'll check and come back if I do...
sorry...i couldn't find anything...i was hoping that I took a picture in front of it at one time...:(
I'm sure with some experimenting you'll figure out what you like!!

Im not a fan of the whole china display. Too much clutter and not just not 'me'. When I get a corner curio, I plan to put a glass candle holder (which was the centerpiece at my weddinG) maybe a vase, candle, one or two statues. I'll have to play around with stuff to see how it looks. But Im definately not doing the piles/showcase of dishes.. Maybe 2 pretty handpainted wine glasses? I also have some italian stuff I might put in there. Im a fan of colored stuff (like murano statues)etc.
But im not really sure about any of this since I havent even thought long and hard about this yet.
Denise-follow your gut in what you want to display. you dont have to do 'what everyone else does'

Here is mine. Right now I have most of my china and crystal on display with a few decorative items pretty wine glasses, our toasting glasses, a pitcher, bowl, vase, decanter, etc. I like how it looks but when I have a dinner party - it becomes empty. I think as years go on I will put less china on display..I am sure I will gather more decorative items in time and then get one of those china storage bags and put the china in the bottom piece.

denise - that is BEAUTIFUL! i absolutely love it! i also think we may have the same china... if not very similar. mine looks very similar with silver trimming. the glasses maybe too but that's a little harder to tell by the pictures! my china is the lenox courtyard platinum set. and my are glasses are the encore set with silver trim. great taste!

We have a buffet with a baker's rack. This is sort of a temporary display, as I haven't fully decided what to do. I don't like the idea of having all the glassware out as a dustcatcher, but nowhere else to put it right now. We've only had it a few weeks, so I haven't really played with it much. My china pattern is Wedgwood - Sarah's Garden.
The floral arrangement is one of my recent creations.

Lauren - it does look like we have similar taste. I also have Lenox Courtyard Platinum china but my crystal is Marquis Saxony.

No, we have our formal crystal glasses (Mikasa globets, wine, flutes) and another set of Abbott globets that were from our registry in our china cabinet's hutch. Our buffet has oversized platters and bowls. The drawers has our formal and causal table linens of placemats, napkins and table cloths as well as our formal flatware set from Waterford from our Macy's registry. Our formal china and casual china are all in our kitchen cabinet. We don't use our formal china except entertaining families. Our causal is for everyday as well as with our friends.
To each their own. Whatever works for each couple. It also depends on every couple's housing situation where space is an issue of an apartment vs. a house.

I have my china in the buffet and in the hutch I have my beautiful collection of handmade pottery and Japanese saki set.
