what do you like better?

what do you like better?

here is my current invitation wording:

Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Jones
request the honour of your presence
at the marriage of their daughter
Michele Lyn
to
Shawn Michael
son of
Mr. and Mrs. Thaddeus Smith
Saturday, the Second of August
Two Thousand and Three
at half past two in the afternoon
St. Aloysius R.C. Church
Great Neck, New York

here are my questions:
1) should my FH's last name be included in his like, or just keep it w/ his first name and middle name? my invitation lady suggested that since his parents are underneath it would be repetitive, but im not sure.

2) how do i word 'at half past two...' - i dont like two-thirty but my parents arent thrilled with this 'half past' way.

3) should Two Thousand and Three be capital or lowercase? should 'Second' be capital or lower case?

thanks for your input!

I like your FH's first & middle name only since you have his parents name underneath.
I also like the half past two...as for the capitalization, I apologize, I am not sure of the correct way

Re: what do you like better?

I think it is fine with your FI first and middle name only since you have his last name below.

The half past two is more formal than two-thirty. I used the half past four on mine

and on my invitation, I believe we didnt capitalize the year....

Re: what do you like better?

I think your wording is very formal and traditional - so I would definitely go with half past two to make the style consistent. I also would leave your FH name the way it is and I wouldn't capitalize the year.

Edited to say: I just noticed that the date is capitalized - so maybe you should capitalize the year (and the time so it flows??) Sorry - I'm not sure!

Re: what do you like better?

It looks good the way you have it with FIs first & middle names only.
i just checked an invitation web site and they show the year in all lowercase letters.
This is a question i also had. Thanks for helping me get the info also!!!

ok here's what i found:

The day is capitalized, not the date:

Saturday, the second of August
Two thousand and three

i hope this answers the question??

Re: what do you like better?

Actually it should read Two thousand three, there should not be an 'and' in there. The word 'and' indicates a decimal point.

Half past two sounds fine. We used three-thirty in the afternoon.

I also think that your FI's first and middle name looks good.

Re: what do you like better?

I'm with Jennbaby on the this - fh first and middle name is enough because you have the last name w/the parents right underneath

I agree with Jennbaby on this one

VickiC you are right! im glad you pointed that out - i forgot that whole decimal deal :)

Re: what do you like better?

Much as I HATE how this sounds, the correct 'formal' way to write 2:30 is 'half after two o'clock'
I think that half past two sounds better but I'm just repeating what's right in terms of 'etiquette'
