What do you say whne people ask you directly if they're being invited to your wedding but you're NOT planning on inviting them??
I've had a few people ask me that and I don't know what to say. Please help.

I have just said that we are having an intimate affair with just immediate family and close friends or I have said that b/c we are limited to a certain # of people so that is forcing us to invite only immediate family and close friends. Now, if they ever find out I'm having a 300+ wedding, I'm screwed!

you can just say that you are having mostly family at the wedding, and you would love to invite them, but your families are large, and neither of you are inviting a lot of friends...
by the way, how rude is it to ask a bride that....nothing like putting someone in a corner!!!

I would just say we are having a small wedding and it will just be our families and very close friends.

Tell them that you are planning on having a small wedding with close friends & family & you are limited to the number of people you can invite.....

I am having a small reception. The problem is that it is some distant 'family' that's not being invited.
Maybe I can also come up with the excuse that I haven't finalized the guest yet.
Oh well......I just hate being put on the spot like that. I would never so it to anyone. How rude. PERIOD!

This is what I say as well (which is mostly true) when someone so rudely asks!

My coworkers keep talking like they're invited, and finally one day one of them said 'We're probably not even invited, right?' And I said 'yeah, most likely you won't be!' But we have that kind of relationship where I can be frank with them.

When the person asked FH if he was invited, FH said 'of course you are man!' haha
We had to hand deliver the inviation (really LATE!) as if he was originally on the guest list.

you can always bring up the point that you are not the only one with a guest list.
tell them that you have to consider parents of bride, parents of groom, and groom when making the guest list. this means that YOU are limited to X number of guests.

My biggest issue is how to invite some family and not others - and you have to unfortunately live with the decision and the consequences. I have responded with anything from we're not done with the guest list yet, to we can't invite too many friends because my family is tremendous. It's awkward no matter what.
