For example - i got a call last night from a DJ company we did not book with. They called to follow up and I was honest and said we chose to go w/ someone else. He asked who - and again I was honest and said my vendor.
I didn't give details regarding my package or the pricing I got.
What do you ladies do in this situation? Should I not have said my DJ vendor? I didn't think it was a big deal but just wanted everyone else's POV.

I would just tell them sorry but we decided to go with someone else but thank you for your time. I wouldn't give any further details because I don't feel it's any of their business.

To tell you the truth... I absolutely HATE when vendors do this. So far in wedding world I have only experienced this once and it was with a RH we decided not to book with. When I was asked I just repeated 'We decided to use someone else' over & over until he got the picture. I don't think there's any harm in you telling another vendor who you went with over them, but I personally didn't feel comfortable with it. I think that's really what it comes down to- what you feel comfortable with.

I had that happen to me and it was about my venue- Leonards of Great Neck called me to follow up since it was like 4 weeks since we came to see the hall. And she asked me why we didn't book with them and I explained. I am having a Jewish wedding (regardless of my last name) and I will needa few Kosher meals, I question the guy who showed us around( forget his name) and he referred to the kosher meals as hungry man mircowave meal. I am sorry but these are my family/future family and I am paying goof F* king money not to be referred to as a F*kin TV dinner. and she apoloized up and down and never even asked another question. I was annoyed but hey I would tell them you went with someone else so they know they have to juice up their deals for us other brides

I had a DJ that we decided not to go with ask me that. I told him the truth. I told him the name of the company we decided to go with and why. Not that they were terrible but i the pricing was much better and they offer more diverse selection of music. I figured it couldnt hurt. Maybe it will help future brides

that happened to my when we would look at halls...oh, where else have you looked...and it makes sense bec they want to see your style and your price point...but one place took it too far to insult another place, i was instantly turned off! not good business at all!
