what do you think

what do you think

FH and I have gone back and forth over whether or not to get limos and we decided that's it's probably not worth the monet. BUT, I had a brainstorm today. What do you think about us renting 2 white Suburbans, from a regular car rental place, one for the girls and one for the guys, then our parents in one other car. Would that work, or seem stupid? TIA

Who would be driving the cars?

I think it's a cool idea.

How much are they to rent?

Will you have the time to return them after the wedding or the next day (ie - does it interfere with your HM plans?)

Who will be the designated driver at the end of the reception?

i would go for limos rather than waste the money on trucks.... JMO

Re: what do you think

The limos would be $1000 and the trucks would probably be under $300. Me and my girls are staying overnight the night before the wedding, so we would drive one truck out. Then the boys would drive out in the morning. We would have one of the bridemaids and one of the groomsmen drive to the photo site and then to the reception hall. We're all staying at the hotel again the night of the wedding and it's only up the street from the hall, so whoever is sober would drive back. We would return the trucks the next day. Even if we got limos, we would all still have to drive our cars out the LI, we all live in Westchester.

I just got a price from Enterprise for $109.99 a day for the Suburbans. For 2 trucks for 2 days it would be $440 plus tax, that's half of what the limos would cost. And no tip!

Are you sure there is someone that will be sober that can drive? Did you ask your BMs? Will you be able to hop up in a Suburban with your gown?

Even if we had limos for the photos, it's not like they would be coming back to drive everyone back to the hotel, so on way or another we would be driving after the reception. I'm not too worried about getting the in the car with my gown. Suburbans seat 8 and we would be 7.

I think that if you are fine with it..and its definitly a much better cost, then do it!

Re: what do you think

Dont forget gassing them both back up...at this point thats about another $50, plus insurance, which I RECOMEND...we had a car fire about ten years ago while in Florida with a rental...thats about $35-$40 per car....and the hassle of returning the cars the next day...are you leaving for your honeymoon after the wedding?

If not, then go for it...but after gas and stuff...the limos might be better if just a $100 or so more....and most limo places if you bother them will throw in a ride home from reception in a town car.....

Also $1000 is a lot for two limos....for 2 ten passanger's, the highest quote we got was $650....we are getting two 12 passanger limos for only $650.....
