What do you think?

My girlfriend who married about 2 years ago felt the same way. She got a gorgeous cocktail dress (which actually had a 'poof') from Jessica McClintock. She also chose not to wear the traditional white, and went with a champagne color instead - it was gorgeous and quite unique.

Absolutely fine! I recently got a magazine where the brides did this (i think it's the instyle wedding mag but i can't remember) and I thought they looked fabulous. It's your wedding- whatever you decide is perfect!!

I'm doing that too!

I don't want a train or a veil, but after looking at many simple, 'flowy' dresses, that didn't suit me, I found J. Mcclintock and loved her styles. See my other post. The dress that I found is more 'poofy' than I wanted, but it's still so simple. I have dark sking, so I may go with a nivory color. Just consider where, when, etc, and is your FH wearing a tux? Mine isn't, he's wearing a suit. Good luck!!

My friend did that and got a great dress at Saks

for only $200. It was not a wedding gown but looked liked one. It was white, strapless with buttons down the back and A-line. It didn't have a train or any poof and she looked gorgeous. What a bargain!
