What do you think??

What do you think??

My parents got divorced about 4 years ago and up until recently, have been 'civil' with each other, but not exactly 'friendly'. My mom moved to florida this summer and the distance actually helped my parents to get along much better.
At my sister's wedding in November of '04, my parents REFUSED to be announced/enter together or dance together at all. I was hoping that at my wedding (not until Oct. of '07) they would be able to put aside their differences and be announced into the reception together and possibly dance together. Do you girls think it's worth the battle or should I just let it go?? I would hate to ask/guilt them into saying yes and then have them be uncomfortable or unhappy at the reception.....

Personally I would not make my parents go through that if they were divorced. If it is very important to you I think you should ask them individually how they would feel about it.

I would do what your parents feel most comfortable with. You dont want either or them to be anxious or stressing because you are making them do something. I havde never heard of divorced parents dancing together at a wedding.

I have to agree. But I can understand your point of view that more time has passed. So, if I were you, I would just ask each of them separatly. Tell them there is no pressure, but you had to ask to see where they both stand on the matter.

Announced together, maybe.

We are actually not annoucing anyone but us
because there are just too many introductions.

If it is something you feel strongly about, I would approach each parent separately and see how they feel about it.

I would definitely have them enter separately, sit on opposite sides of the hall and not even take the dance floor together. They are there to celebrate your wedding, not restore their relationship. Let them both say congratulations to you and leave it at that. If they want to say hello or whatever, that's up to them and them alone.

My FIL's got divorced a little over 3 yrs ago. We are not letting them come in together. Nor dance together. Fmil has a bf if ffil has a gf when we get married then we'll have his mom come in with her BF and his Dad with his GF.
