Ok so Im going to FH's cousin's wedding this weekend in Rhode Island at the Astor's Beechwood Mansion- the reception is saturday night - i was thinking of wearing this balck gown - do you think it is too dressy? im not sure if people get really dressed there? i packed a back up dress just in case.
this is the dress but mine is black (i hope it came out - im not really sure how to insert pics from a website)

that dress is really pretty.
what is the bridal party wearing? it's looks very bridesmaidish. it might be too dressy for the wedding. you don't wanna take away from the bridal party. especially if it's FH's family and not yours. JMO!

might be a little dressy for the wedding, but I would wait and see...It might be too much if it is not black tie.

IMO, it's a little too dressy. And I agree with the above, make sure it's not similar to what the BM's are wearing. On the other hand, very pretty dress!

i have no idea what the BP is wearing - this side of FHs family is very wealthy - the last wedding we went to they were the only ones with gowns on and i felt so stupid - my back-up dress is so plain - short, black 3/4 sleeve dress

FHs mom is in a nursing home - so she is not going to the wedding - i have been asking FH to ask his cousins that are going all week but you know guys - and he did not call

Jenn- i think this dress would be best- being that the place seems fancy, and they had vera wang invitations and a formal tea party shower lol... i think people are probably going to get dresed up more....definitely have your backup and ask some of his cousins tonight at the RD what they are wearing....have fun and we will miss u this weekend!! take lots of pics!! 143

hmmm- I agree about not overpowering the bridal party- but my thoughts are it's better to be overdressed than underdressed
