What do you think??
I need some advice!! Both of my parents have passed away. Mom in '96 and Dad in '00. I would like to play a song in honor of them when we light our unity candle. I found a song by Josh Groben called To Where You Are. I think the song is beautiful, but I am not sure if it should be played at that time or maybe later in the ceremony. I really want to do something in thier memory. Any suggestions??Thanks.

I believe the tradition of the unity candle signifies the uniting of the couple and their families. I think this tribute to your parents could be worked in. You could also do it in place of a third reading. Your officient may have some suggestions.

I think that is a perfect way to honor your parents, as long as you will not be terribly sad while the song is played. If it will be too emotional for you, you might want to have a memorial candle light on the altar and not have the song sung. But I think the idea is beautiful.

My friend did the memorial candle as well as wrote something special (but not too sad) in her program. It was so nice. I think a song during the ceremony can be worked in especially during the unity candle lighting.

Re: What do you think??
Thank you all so much for your input. I think it may be to emotional for me if I play the song during the ceremony. The minister did say that he will say a prayer and name my parents in it. Maybe I will let that be it for the ceremony and than do something, like a favorite song or dance, deticated to them during the reception. They loved to dance the 'lindy' together. Thanks Ladies!!!
