about giving away personalized seed packets (with seeds in them of course) as a favor.
I am doing a garden theme and I wanted to do a cute but useful favors. I wanted to make a donation to some kind of arbor/plant a tree/environmental foundation that serves the NY area (or any area for that matter). The problem is they don't give you anything in return. Some foundations give you one of those rubber bracelets (that's not what I want- it is just an example) for every dollar you donate but none of the foundations I found gave away seeds....
Do you like that idea? and do you know of any foundations?

I'm giving them as the place cards because i'm doing donations to st. jude as favors but always liked the seed ideas... this is the best website i found for such a thing. http://www.plantamemory.com/index.html I don't think they do donations but at least a seed will be planted by those who receive it. (hopefully)

I like the idea of giving the seeds as the favor, will you still be donating? If so put a personalized tag on the favor so people know that you donated in lieu if a 'favor' so to speak

I love the idea, but I would consider finding really tiny pots and place the seeds in there. You can make it look really cute and that will complete the theme. You can get personalized seed packets from a lot of places. Good luck!

altho, you could just print something up yourself or have something made to say that a donation was made if you went with that.

If you go to Arbor Day's website...they actually do wedding favors. You pick what kind of tree, and they send you a baby tree in a tube.

We are doing a garden theme and we are going to do tulip bulbs or mini trees. I LOVE the idea of the seeds and a donation.
love it...I used this site when throwing a baby shower a got little plantable ducks! They were great!

I like the idea of seeds, My friend was iffy on doing that, but we polled numerous people and many said they would plant them. I would just also make sure that guests know that the seeds came from a donation. is it written on the seed packet? or maybe add a small note to place with the seeds or in your program if you have one.
I know dressing the seeds up in pots as suggested would look good, but then that kind of takes away from the donation part if you are on a tight budget.
