i have had meeting with 4 photographers...and 2 of them have said the phrase...'well nothing really happens after you cut the cake' um really? cuz i'm pretty sure there is still some time left at your wedding after you cut the cake. EVERYONE doesn't leave right after you cut the cake. i plan on partying and dancing until the very last minute of my reception and the photographer better be there till the very end too!
what do you girls think about that comment the photographer said?

Ready to laugh! I was just about to post how I have met with 4 photographers and I'm in a tail spin because none of them are for us!
I cant take it anymore! This is terrible....
I swear im going to be photo-less at my wedding...

Re: what do you think?
That's the main reason I didn't book with one photographer who does BEAUTIFUL work. If I'm paying you THOUSANDS of dollars, you can spend an extra 90 minutes at my wedding.
Keep looking, you'll find somebody and it'll work out.

Re: what do you think?
Steph, you know how I already feel about photographers!
I went to a wedding a few weekends ago and the cake cutting was at around 10-11pm? After that.. to be honest... people started leaving. You could try to get the end of the night photo's then and if that is what you want, then tell them. They should be accomodating.

Re: what do you think?
My photo and video was there until the very last second of the very last song. And even later than that I think. I couldn't imagine not getting the end of the night on photo and video. Some of my best pics are from that time.

Re: what do you think?
my photographers and videographer stayed until after the wedding ended. i know that for sure because they actually came up to me to say bye and give me a hug.
so many great dancing shots were captured after cake cutting.
i actually went to a wedding last weekend, and the photogs left early. the poor bride spent the last hour taking her own pictures.

Re: what do you think?
I know a few people had their photogs leave right after the cake cutting. This didn't fly with me- I wanted them there up until the last minute and they were! And I'm very glad they were, some of the end of the night dancing pictures are my faves!
ETA: And I know only 1 group from my wedding didn't stay until the end. They left after the cake cutting but everyone else stayed.

Re: what do you think?
thats just silliness.
people definitely leave early, thats just the way it is... but nothing happens after cake cutting is the most ridiculous thing ever...
my dance floor was packed till the last song...

Re: what do you think?
That seems crazy. I have my photoghraphers and videographer until the last minute. You never know what will be captured, and when. They should be there the whole time!

Re: what do you think?
I'm going to tell you, as someone who used to do wedding photography, even if it stated in the contract that we were to leave after a certain amount of hours (so for example, if our time was up after the cake cutting), I still stayed til the very end of the wedding. I really feel that the guests let loose completely towards the end of the night and it really makes for some great pictures. Even at that time, the bride and groom seem to be on the dancefloor a lot more because pretty much all obligations (formal pictures, cake cutting, parent dances, etc) are done by that point and they can just dance the rest of the night away with their guests.

Re: what do you think?
I kind of agree with the photographer. I mean, there is dancing but there is also dancing before the cake. I guess I personally don't see a lot of value in having a lot of pictures of people dancing. I'm going to have mine leave after the cake, but that's because I just don't want to spend the extra couple hundred on having him stay overtime. I rather get a couple spa on our honeymoon.

Re: what do you think?
mine is booked for 11hours, and i'd rather him be there for the 'getting ready shots', so he'll leave around 11pm (reception ends at 11:30) I'm fine with that

Re: what do you think?
no way i want them there until the last dance!! Sorry but you need to be there for my whole day, otherwise i wll find some other poor sucker to take my pics
** annabellagirl** I still stand by my idea of taking pics with my JEM camera and flashcubes, I can even get the camera that say HAPPY WEDDING on the bottom with a really cute boarder

Re: what do you think?
Yea def not!!! My reception ends at midnight...and my photographer asked me what time he should leave and I told him 1130 and even then he said he wouldnt just pack up and leave he would let me know at 1115 . SO unprofessional of them to even say. Keep searching.
I have Lighthouse and they were a great match for FH and I
