what do you think?
i was thinking about not having a cocktail hour because i think it's too much food and nobody will really eat the dinner. is this ok, is anyone else not having a cocktail hour or know somebody who didn't?

Re: what do you think?
No, we're definetly having CH - as guests, CH is our favorite part (of the food) at the reception.

Re: what do you think?
Honestly, I think it would be weird, unless you were having a small, restaurant dinner reception. Many people look forward to the cocktail hour.

Re: what do you think?
thanks girls, i told my mom that people would think it was weird. but i was reading her the menu at timber point and she said with all the food at the cocktail hour nobody would eat the dinner, and just do away with the cocktail hour. i knew i had to ask you ladies first.

Re: what do you think?
i know that alot of people look forward to the cocktail hour too - so it might be strange if you didn't have it.but it is your wedding, and you know your guests....why not ask a few of them what theyd think about skipping it?

Re: what do you think?
well if you think its alot of food, you could cut down the food at the cocktail hour(and still have one) and maybe add it to something else

Re: what do you think?
I agree, people do look forward to the cocktail hour, to sit and mingle with everyone.I would be disappointed if I went to one without it.
Like soneone said, have them cut back on the food if you feel that.
But these halls make the food to the amount of guests you have.
Trust me people will eat at dinner too.

Re: what do you think?
the cocktail hour is a nice time for your guests to socialize with people who they might not have the chance to at the reception. it's also a good opportunity for you to mingle with your guests!

Re: what do you think?
I've been to 2 weddings in upstate NY where there wasn't a CH & we were not expecting that at all. Especially at the 1st one we ever went to. We were all starving but had to wait for dinner to be served which ended up being a buffet anyway so it would definitely have been a waste to have a CH (essentially 1 big buffet) & then a buffet dinner. After that 1st wedding, we realized how different weddings are outside this area and therefore weren't surprised at the next one we attended that didn't have a CH. I wouldn't worry about there being too much food at all. It's what people have come to expect at a wedding on LI.Welcome New Vendors
