What do you think?

i am looking for a very simple (no lace, beads, sequins, embroidery) gown and have yet to find one that i like. i tried on several bm dresses in the exact style that i am in search of.

anyway, i am thinking of ordering a bm dress ($175) and having the seamstress work her magic (add trim detailing, extra lining, crinloine, buttons down the back, thin the straps, sculpt a train) the boutique owner (we know her) said that we can basically custom make the gown using the bm dress as a blank slate.

what do you think?

Sounds like it would be a lot of fun!! You will have a one of a kind dress, made just for you! If she's a well recommended seamstress, I say, go for it!

In case you don't go that route, some designers that seem to have more simple dress designs are Amsale http://www.amsale.com/ , Priscilla of Boston, http://www.priscillaofboston.com/about.html , Jim Hjelm http://www.jimhjelm.com/ , Watters and Watters http://www.watters.com/ and Justina McCaffrey http://www.jmhc.com/ - to name a few.

My question is what is your seamstress's opinion? I would just be concerned that what you want can it be done. I think if your seamstress says yes, then go for it.

Would you reccommend your seamstress? If yes, can you please FM her contact info.
