what do you think about this situation?

what do you think about this situation?

ok, so overall, everything was great on our big day.... BUT, there was a situation with one of my cousins....

So my cousin's family moved to MI recently, so I bet mom didn't send his wife an invitation to the shower becuase they are far away.... but then again, she likely would have done the same for my other cousin in oregon (his sister). I was a little disappointed they didn't even send a card to my shower, but that's a different story....

For the wedding, they never RSVP'ed. I had to email them WEEKS after the deadline. Then I found out that only my cousin would attend. His wife didn't want the kids to take time off from school to fly to the wedding. Once again, a bit disappointing, but then again, they have 3 young kids, and it would be really stressful flying with all of them.

In the interim, their daughter had her first communion, and both mom and I sent seperate cards and gifts.... neither of us received thank you cards.

then, I got an email right before the wedding from my cousin apologizing that he will not be able to attend, since his wife's back was really bad. Once again, disappointing, but understandable.

The final straw, the one that irritated me:
They never even sent a wedding card to us! I'm beginning to think his wife has either something against us or is mad for some reason at us. (That would likely explain the lack of RSVP, the family not attending, and the wife holding back the husband from attending at the last minute.)

I always thought we had a decent relationship.... I don't even care if they send a gift or not.... It just seems like a slap in the face to me not even to send some good wishes....

Am I being reasonable with this assessment, or is there another way to look at this situation?

People are strange. What does it take to send a card ? You can buy cards anywhere, even send an e-card.

Don't let it get to you. You can always throw in a - did your child get the gift I sent for her communion ? That should be good for a little guilt.

Try not to let it bother you-tho I know it would annoy the cr@p out of me. We had people-CLOSE friends-come to our wedding and not even give us a card!!!

Some times people make no sense!! Don't let it bother you - just remember you did the right thing!!! I keep telling myself it's uselss to try and understand other people (although it's usually easier said then done)

i wouldnt let this bother you even though i can understand why this is so hurtful to you. Some people do not have the common courtesy or sense to send a couple good wishes when they are invited to a wedding and cant attend. Some people really just dont get it sometimes

Aww I'm sorry! I know how you feel. But you've only gotten married a couple of weeks ago (congrats!!!! ) so give it some time. People sometimes have good intentions but time passes and they don't realize it...I've received gifts up to seven months after my wedding. There is still hope!

so as a guy, maybe you folks can help me understand this... I thought folks have up to a year to send along a gift, and if so, would they send a card along with the gift? Or do I have this totally wrong?

if I have it right, then that may explain the no card yet. If not, well, then yes, that really stinks!
