What do you think of SMALL tables...

What do you think of SMALL tables...

at the reception? My daughter is not meeting her minimum & she is panicked that the room is going to look very empty. Apparantly, the coordinator at the Carltun has suggested tables of 6 so the room will look more filled. I've agreed to do this but I really don't like the idea of only 6 people at most tables. A few tables will have 8, but nothing larger. I've never been to a wedding with only 6 at a table. Do you think it's going to be weird? By the way, the wedding date on my profile is purposly wrong. The correct date is coming very very soon. I used the wrong date so she wouldn't know it was me if she ever checked these boards.

I think the more room the better. I have been to weddings where 12 people were squished into one table. I love the idea of 6!

i was actually just at a wedding where i sat at a table of six and none of us really knew each other either. it was intimate and nice since we were able to talk to everyone at the table. i liked it.

I dont like the idea of 6 people at a table. We were thinking of doing the same thing ( actually putting 8 instead of 10) to fill out our ballroom as well. - besdies the extra cost of centerpieces the BIG reason I didnt want to do this was b/c sadly you might honestly end up with a few no shows that night.... the ones that rsvp yes and never come. Then at that table of 6 there might be 3 or 4 people and how odd would that look?? I would hate to be one of the guests at that table...they would seem like the outcasts or something.
Honestly I am doing what my BM suggested and just spread the tables out a little.

I think it's great. I also think it would make seating easier. Our hardest part of the seating plan was trying to make tables of 12 when in most only 8 of the people made sense together. To me, it seems like smaller tables would give better seating options.

I like having fewer people at a table. Often times there are 12 people at a reception table and you are practically sitting in each others laps. Better to have a little room to stretch out!

I love the idea of smaller tables. How many times have you been to an affair where there are 14 people at an oblong table- with the music so loud peole cannot talk beyond the person next to them. Unfortunately my wedding will be like that

I think it's great and will be a more intimate wedding.

I like the idea of the intimacy of smaller tables. I wouldn't be uncomfortable if I were a guest at a wedding with 6 people at a table...or just 4 b/c people were no-shows. How often do people from other tables stop by to chat and what not?

I think it would look fabulous while serving a greater purpose.

I dont know I think 6 people at a table that is normally to hold 10 comfortable or squish 12-14 will look empty. Maybe 8... but 6 ???

For me, this woudl be perfect, b/c its harder for me to find 10 peopel to sit together, they are all related in smaller groups, but I could see how soem peopel may feel segregated, but if all the tables are small, peopll just have to mingle!

I am doing the same thing!! It is a great idea like everyone else said. Most of my tables will be 8 with a few 6's. I wouldn't worry. I think it is way better then having 10+ people at a table...
