What do you think of this.....

We got the Vienese hour. I wanted to split that hour up and extend the cocktail hour a half hour and half a half hour at the end of the party.

My FH doesn't like that idea because he thinks people will be bored at the cocktail hour for 1 1/2 hours. We're not losing any time at the reception, i figure they can bring the vienese out 45 minutes before the party ends. This way it's really only cutting 15 minutes into the original time alotted for the party.

My feeling is that if it's 1 1/2 hours, we'll have time to mingle and say hello this way we don't have to do so much of that at the reception, and we can enjoy our food and dance!

What are your feelings on splitting the extra hour?

I like it - personally I'm not the hugest fan of the Vienese hour & everybody loves CH...although with my crowd drinks would win over cake any day!
It also gives you more time to mingle so you can have more dance time during the dinner!

i totally would extend the cocktail hour. people wont get bored. they dont show up right at the exact time the cocktail hour starts anyway. i wouldnt worry about it, Extend it- has the best food during then anyway!

I agree with your FH. We were just at 2 weddings that did that and even though we were drinking and hanging out, we had finished eating like a 1/2 hour into CH and were like alright already! Let's get on with the party!

I like the idea of it since it will give you time to mingle, but I was at a wedding with an extended cocktail hour and it did seem a little long. I know some guests got a little antsy. The food was amazing though so I did not mind one bit!

My brother did a 2 hour cocktail hour. People loved it and the bridal party was there for most of it.

We had a 1.5 Cocktail Hour, and it was the best decision Fox Hollow gave us. We had the chance to mingle w/our guests towards the end, and the late-comers had a chance to taste the great food!
