What do you think of this

What do you think of this

We have come to terms with the fact that FMIL will not be at our wedding. So we have decided right after the BP and my parents are introduced and before our first dance we want the dj to say 'The bride and groom asks everyone to bow their heads and say a silent prayer for the grooms mother L. H.'

We want to acknowledge her and we think prayer would be a good way of doing this.

Thoughts???

I feel like I missed a lot of your posts . Is your FMIL sick? If so, I think that might be a great thing to do at the ceremony, not the reception. If she's not sick and just not coming, the prayer seems a little forced. It depends on the situation though!

She is very sick- she has been in and out of the hospital and nursing homes since Aug 14. We were hoping that she will be better by the wedding- but its just not going to happen

The thing is Jerry wants to acknowledge her at the reception also even though she wont be there.

If it were me, I wouldnt. I would try to think of another way to acknowledge her. Only because the prayer might set an odd tone for the wedding.

But ultimately, you need to do whats right for you and Jerry. Hope his mom is doing better. Maybe after the wedding you guys can go visit her all dressed up.

I think its a great idea. If it were my mom who was sick I know it would mean alot to just have a little moment just for her because she couldnt be there.

hope she is doing better

I think that is the perfect time to do it if you're going to do it at the reception!

I agree - I think this would be better suited for the ceremony.

Aww, I love the idea. The first thing I thought of though is that a moment of silence is usually to honor someone who has passed. So I had to reread your post. You'd have to make sure that your dj says something so that everyone is not confused and upset.

Other than that, I agree that it's a great idea and she gets her own 'entrance' that way, too!!!
