So FH and I are having our engagement party on June 4th. Now I have one sister, and he has 4 brothers (younger). I don't want a big bridal party AT ALL. Just my sister and one of his brother's. However, the choice is up to him since he has 4 brothers. Now I am going to ask him to decide what he wants to do by mid May. My reason for this is that I'd like to ask whoever I want to be in the bridal party during my engagement party.
I am VERY personable, and I want this to be a true honor for my sister, FH's brothers and friends if we choose them. I have a couple of things planned out but I can't decided until my FH decides what do.
Do you girls think it's a nice idea to ask them at our engagement party to be part of our wedding next year? BTW, I am moving my moving wedding date to December 8th, 2012 if all goes well at our food tasting on Saturday. I have two best friends of over 20 years to ask and a cousin so their commitment to this is not an issue at all. I just want this honor to be special and well deserved all parts of our party.
What do you girls think? =)

I think you should do it that way...everyone i know had done it doing there engagement party and its just the way to do it...good luck!!

I think ANY way you ask your bridal party will be special!!
FH and I got engaged in December and we STILL can't decide on whether to have an E party or not.
We couldn't wait to ask our BP, so I ordered personalized cards for my girls from an ETSY vendor and had personalized M&Ms made. I went to each girl's house and asked her in person, and FH wrote cards for his guys!
I think asking at your engagement party is a very sweet idea!

I say go ahead and have an engagement party =) It would be nice. We didn't really have a choice to have one. His family is giving it to us which is very generous =)
I think you are right, anyway of askings someone to share in the day would be great! My almost 3 Godson will be given some sort of big cookie to munch on but I can't wait to see him all dressed up!!

That sounds like a great idea. I wish I asked them in person, but I was too excited when I got engaged. They were still super excited over the phone though. Glad you figured out your date dilemma.

Exactly!!! If the people in your party love you than they will appreciate however you ask them!
