Few things, I dont think you will do MUCH better anywhere else, Peonies are not in season in September-but you are getting them, orchids and callas are expensive-I think you will get a lower price from a company on LI b/c you WILL pay for the delivery without a doubt, unless you find a place in manhattan but they may not be able to get you peonies-not sure if the orchids and callas are in season in september so I cant say on those

He told me that peonies will be expensive, but that's just my bo-k. Orchids on the other hand, are not expensive because they can be grown indoors and are readily available all year round. He said at that time of the year, calla lilies are more expensive than peonies, but then again, that's just 2 bouts of calla lilies.

Truthfully, I think its alot, but all my boks were peonies and were in season and they were expensive. The callas you are probably getting charged that more b/c it is only 2 bouts and the shipping cost (maybe) I would look at others and see what they quote you. that is always the smart way to go, b/c then you get an idea of what IS really expensive and what is the ideal for what you want.

I never thought about the shipping charges. That make sense if they have to ship a small quantity, they'd charge you a premium. Do you think I should get another quote for the exact same list just for comparison or should I go with cheaper flowers? FH said he doesn't care for the callas, roses are fine with him. I love peonies, but not for that price.

I would do both, get quotes for the same thing (just be prepared for other florists to refuse peonies and callas-some just wont do it if they are out of season) see where you stand. If they come in at the same price you know the quote you got originally is average for what you want.
If you go to your florist and change things to roses and the price drop is ALOT then consider changing-but before you change make sure you wont regret not having peonies and callas or maybe do less peonies and add roses to your boks and scratch callas all together.

Have you visited Ariston Florist in Manhattan?
My FH's godfather is a florist in the Bronx, but he knows the people at Ariston and says they're good.
Plus, Ariston Florist was voted Best of the Knot recently.

We just came back from Burtons. They quoted us $1800 for everything including centerpieces. They want $100 per table for tall centerpieces.

I agree 100%!!! My florist is a friend of my moms and she is giving us everything at wholesale (cuts down ALOT) and she said that to put Peonys in my CP's, (for a good flower) they could possibly be up to $12 per flower... Only my mom (MOH) is getting them in her bouqet... Too expensive for all the CP's, but I agree.. If you do find better, it won't be by much

Re: What do you think of this floral quote?
I agree you may have to change the type of flowers that you want in order to fit in your budget. Ask the florist what types of flowers are in season for the month of September. Orchids and Callas are beautiful but very expensive. You should try Flower Michele John is great and he is honest tell him your budget and what your vision is for your wedding a he will make it happen for you if he ca't give you orchids based on your budget he can offer some fabulous options! The delivery charge to Manhattan won't be more than $200 if that I am getting married in New Rochelle and Flower Michele is charging me a reasonalbe delivery charge.
