A few of my friends I work with who I invited w/ their bf's (bf's were named on invite) decided not to ring their bfs, but instead are asking around at our job to see if other co-workers (not invited) would want to go. I was a little taken back by this. I figured since I knew these people, if I wanted them to come, I would have sent an invite to them directly. I am not crazy about this, just wanted to know opinions.

Re: What do you think? Weird?
i think that is wierd and rude... you didnt put 'and guest' on their invite... you invited a particular person to go with them... if that person cant go, they shouldnt bring someone else...

I agree, it's totally wrong and rude. You should be the one doling out the invitation, not them.
Could you just ignore their request and add their names only, not their invited guests? Let me know how you're handling this. I too am inviting coworkers and won't want them inviting their own 'guest'.

well it's weird because the invites are already out and the names were printed on the envelopes. I know for the one's I invited 'and guest', you leave yourself kinda open for it, but I don't know that if I was in that situation if I would do that.

That is really rude and I think it is a slap in the face to the other co workers! Almost like, well you weren't invited so I'll have one of our guests invite you instead. That's really weird!

Re: What do you think? Weird?
I had this situation also, on of my co-workers told me that she was going to bring another co-worker that I was not inviting as her guest. Thankfully, I found this out before I sent out my invitations, and the co-worker was no invited with guest. She was an older single women who I know was not dating anyone so I didn;t fell bad about not inviting her with a guest.

Re: What do you think? Weird?
this happened with people from my fh's job. then when i go to seat them, he tells me 'oh, he doesnt have to sit with her'...oh really? if shes bringing him as a guest, shes sitting with him, even if he is friendlier with other coworkers at other tables!!! people should bring their significant others or noone! especially in my situation, when they all know a lot of people at the wedding. grr.

I would definitely say something....if you wanted these other co-workers there, you would have invited them youself.

Re: What do you think? Weird?
If the BFs were named on the invite and they decided not to go then thats that! She would go by herself or not at all. You cant just switch people. Now if you said and guest I could see how shed get away with it, but you didnt!
